Rivano Chiropractic can help take care of the pain

Why did you start the business?
The Rivano Chiropractic Health Center was founded to provide chiropractic care to the community of Florham Park and the surrounding towns. What makes us unique compared to other chiropractic offices in the area is that we specialize in working with athletes of all levels. I select evidenced-based treatment techniques, but remain open-minded to experimental and investigational treatment options that demonstrate promise. We integrate chiropractic treatment methods, physiotherapy and the trademark Progressive Functional Rehab to provide the best-possible nonsurgical, noninvasive care for musculoskeletal conditions.

If you could do it again, what would you do differently?
I would not have taken so long to open up my own practice. I associated at other chiropractic offices in order to gain some general business experience, but realized quickly that in order to practice the way that best suits my patients, I had to branch off on my own.

What's the best business advice your parents gave?
The best advice my parents imparted on me is to give your very best in all that you do. Educate yourself about the different components of your business and seek out others who have been successful in the same business venture and duplicate what works already. They always stated that everything you do requires having the right attitude.

What personality traits help you the most?
I am very personable with my patients, which allows them to feel more at ease during their appointments. I am able to convey complicated medical jargon in a very simplistic manner. I educate each patient about their condition and provide them with a realistic approach that addresses the specific cause and a plan of action to correct the issue at hand. Lastly, I empower patients by inspiring them to be active participants in their healthcare by eating well, exercising daily, and thinking positively.

What is the best part of your profession?
Definitely working directly with the patient. It is such a gratifying experience to see a patient go from a painful, acute stage of care, where they are barely able to stand upright or bend down to tie their shoes, to a point where they are strength-training and rehabilitating to a well-conditioned state of health.

What differentiates you from a general chiropractor?
All chiropractors are board-certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. The distinct difference is that I have completed postgraduate coursework to become a board-certified sports chiropractor by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Sports chiropractic focuses on injuries and conditions unique to the athlete, as well as promoting and implementing principles of joint and spinal function. Sports chiropractors consider a person as an integrated biomechanical individual, giving special attention to the spine, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. They are experts in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

Describe a typical initial office visit.
A typical first visit usually lasts about an hour to an hour and half and a thorough history is performed. The patient may ask questions or provide any additional information they feel may be relevant to their condition. Once the history is completed, a detailed orthopedic, neurologic, and chiropractic evaluation is performed. Treatment will generally be rendered on the first day, provided no further diagnostic testing needs to be performed. A tentative course of treatment is discussed, including the anticipated time it may take for their symptoms to resolve and for their condition to be corrected.

When you leave the business, what will you do?
I think I would enjoy teaching either at the high school level or college level.

Briefly discuss why patients should come to your practice.
If you are looking to eliminate your daily aches and pains, tired of taking pain medication, would like to avoid invasive surgery and enrich your life with a very conservative method of health care, then you need to take action today and contact our office to schedule your consultation. You will encounter a newly renovated professional office with all of the necessary attributes to help you attain your healthcare needs. The office is equipped with commercial grade exercise equipment, where we conduct Progressive Functional Rehab to help you overcome your condition.
